Man charged for Wisconsin Discount Robbery

Everett Goodlow, 45 of Racine, has been charged with Robbery and Aggravated Battery-Elderly. He is being held on $20,000 cash bond after making his initial appearance in Racine Circuit Court.

According to the criminal complaint on July 12, 2014, officers with the Racine Police Department responded to Wisconsin Discount located on 16th Street in Racine, for a report of a robbery. An officer spoke with the victim who stated that a black male was in the store showing him a penny and asking about a playboy when the suspect jumped over the counter and grabbed him by the neck and shoved him to the register, forced him to open it, and took an undetermined amount of money from the register, before running towards the front door. The front door would not open, because a buzzer behind the counter is required to release the door. the victim stated the suspect then came back behind the counter, struck him, and returned to the door, at which time victim buzzed the suspect out of the store.

The suspect exited west towards Thurston Avenue. A witness stated he witnessed a portion of the incident. The witness stated he was attempted to enter Wisconsin Discount when he observed the suspect fighting with the victim and according to reportsthe suspect exited the store he fled to a white minivan parked on Thurston Ave, leaving northbound and turning east onto Washington Ave.

Surveillance footage was given to Racine Police and they report that the footage showed a heavy set black male, who was approximately 6 ft tall and wore a white tank top, gray jogging pants, a black baseball cap, and white Nike flip flops. The footage showed the suspect leave in a white Chrysler minivan with a roof rack, tinted windows, and the Chrysler wings on the front grill.

Investigators assigned to the case viewed a copy of the surveillance video. Investigators report that he observed the suspect exit the driver’s side of the vehicle on the video and that they were able to view the assault and observed that the suspect had large tattoos on his shoulder and bicep area, the tops of which appeared to be suns with sunbursts.

According to the complaint Investigators were able to observe the vehicle’s front license plate, which listed to a party, through this information they were able to identify Everett Goodlow as a possible suspect and learned that Goodlow’s tattoos matched the suspect in the video. The victim was shown photo lineup to, who positively identified the suspect as the man who assaulted him and robbed Wisconsin Discount.
