Woman charged in March 14th crash on Douglas Ave & 7 Mile

Chelsea L Styron, 32 of Pleasant Prairie has been charged with felony Injury by Intoxicated Use/Vehicle, and misdemeanor Cause Injury/Operate While und.Influence. She is being held on $15,000 cash bond and her preliminary hearing is scheduled  on March 22, 2017.

According to the criminal complaint on March 14, 2017, Caledonia Police officers responded to the area of Seven Mile Road and Douglas Avenue,for a multiple car accident. The Defendant, Chelsea Styron, had been operating her vehicle northbound on Douglas Avenue while swerving heavily. The Defendant crossed over the center line of traffic, striking another vehicle and causing it to go into a ditch and hit a road sign. The Defendant continued down the wrong side of the road, striking a second vehicle before coming to a stop.

One victim complained of neck pain from the accident, and a second victim, was pinned within her vehicle and had to be transported via Flight for Life, having suffered a broken right arm, three broken ribs, and a lung contusion from the accident.

When officers spoke with the Defendant they noticed that she was in a daze with her eyes droopy and bloodshot and slow speech. The Defendant exhibited clues during field sobriety tests, and the Defendant indicated that she had taken some medication, stating that earlier she had taken Clonazepam and Tramadol, then changed her statement to say she had taken Clonazepam, Adderall, Tramadol, Zoloft, and Flexeril when she had gotten up in the morning. Officers took possession of a bottle of Cyclobenzaprine, which was located on the front passenger seat of the Defendant’s vehicle, along with a zippered up bag in the driver’s door area which contained four additional bottles of pills; one for Dextroamphetamine, one for Tramadol, one for Clonazepam, and one for Meloxicam.
