16 year-old charged after burglary in progress was interrupted

burglaryMalik Kentle, 16 of Racine has been charged with Burglary-Building or Dwelling and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer after being charged in connection with a June 12,2015 burglary. He was given a $5,000 cash bond today after making his initial appearance today in Racine Circuit Court. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 8,2015.

According to the criminal complaint on June 12, Racine police responded to the 1900 block of Summit Ave for a burglary in progress call where the suspect had just fled the scene. The victim stated to police that they had come home and interrupted a burglary in progress and the suspect took numerous items from the home and fled on foot. The victims were able to give a suspect and clothing description.

Investigators with the Racine Police found the defendant walking in the area, matching the description and carrying a duffle bag. Investigators ordered him to drop the bag where according to the complaint the defendant dropped the bag and ran from police. The defendant was apprehended by police and the duffle bag contained all the items take in the burglary. He was taken into custody.
