16th St C.O.P House Garden Project is off to a great start!

CAM00487Officer Bryant Petersen -16th Street C.O.P. Officer and the entire Racine Police Department would like thank everyone who helped start a community garden project at the 16th Street C.O.P. house with the kids from the neighborhood.  They planted flowers and vegetables to beautify the neighborhood and teach the kids about gardening.

The kids got a huge kick out of learning about flowers and vegetables and loved getting their hands dirty. They’ll be helping to water and weed the garden throughout the summer and will be able to enjoy watching their plants grow.

CAM00488Many of the supplies to create this project were donated by local citizens/businesses and without their assistance, the project wouldn’t have been able to happen. The list of people/businesses to thank would include:

Home Depot for donating soil

Shurpac Inc for donating pallets

Burr Oaks Greenhouse and Country Gift Shoppe for donating flowers

And a very special thank you to Donna Deuster for donating plants, planting materials, and her time to teach the kids about gardening.
