Landon Weatherspoon, 22 of Racine is charged with 3 counts of human trafficking, repeater and is being held on $25,000 after making an initial appearance in Racine Court today. Miranda Hummel, 19 of Kenosha is charged with 2 counts of human trafficking and is currently held on $2,500.
According to the criminal complaints, Investigators with the Racine Police Department along with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department began investigating prostitution based on online ads. Officers responded to the Riverside Inn to the room number given by the message from the young lady that officers spoke to on the phone who had advised him that it would be $150.00 for half hour of $250.00 for one hour. She also stated that if he were to come over he had to wear a condom and that if he wanted a second female who was present and was available in the ad that the price would be $400.00 for two girls for one hour.
Officers responded to the room given by the young lady at the Riverside Inn and when the door opened, a male and a female answered the door. The female was MINOR PARTY, and the male party was identified as Landon G. Weatherspoon. When officers made entry into the room, they also noticed that the adjoining room had a door between them that was open and inside the second room they located the second suspect Miranda Hummel, and another MINOR PARTY.
Officers spoke with the minors and it’s alleged that several times in the past, Miranda while she was her former neighbor had made statements to her that she could make some easy money with connections she had in Racine for her to prostitute herself. MINORS stated that through Miranda she met Landon Weatherspoon.
The MINOR PARTIES stated that on Friday, August 23, 2013, walked to a gas station where they were picked up by Landon and that he drove them to the Riverside Inn. Once inside, Miranda and Landon gave them ground rules about how to prostitute themselves, the language they should use, and the prices that would be set.
One of the girls said that Weatherspoon made sure the money was collected up front and that she never saw any of the money. She also said that while there was sexual contact with johns, Weatherspoon always interrupted before intercourse, telling the johns that time was up, the complaint reads.
Officers say the other girl related almost the same story but said Weatherspoon split the money by giving her 60 percent and keeping 40 percent for himself.
Weatherspoon was also seen carrying a gun, the complaint reads, and the girls said he told them he carried it for their protection.
They will both have their preliminary hearings on Sept. 4.Share on Facebook
