Jose A Vazquez Jr., 17 of Racine is currently being held on $5,000 cash bond after making an initial appearance on charges of ROBBERY WITH THREAT OF FORCE, if convicted he could face up to 15 years in prison and/or $50,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint Officers with the Racine Police Department were dispatched on 7/28/13 at approximately 3:07 am officers were to the 1300 block of Douglas Ave., regarding a male subject who had been stabbed.

Upon arrival officers located the victim in the lot/porch area of 1333 Douglas Ave and determined him to be suffering from multiple (in excess of 25) stab wounds. The victim was transported by the Racine Fire Department Rescue to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare/All Saints (WFH-AS).

Investigators report that he made contact with the victim at the hospital and observed him to be suffering from what appeared to be multiple cuts/stab wounds to his torso, face and legs. The victim stated that he had been walking in the area of Albert St. and Douglas Ave. heading toward his residence at approximately 3:00 am. The victim stated that as he approached Douglas Ave. on Albert St. he observed three male white/Hispanic individuals in their late teens, early 20’s, standing on the sidewalk/curb area at Superior St. and Douglas Ave. He stated upon observing these individuals, one of the male parties immediately directed his attention toward him and walked toward him, in a confrontational manner. The victim stated this male met him near the south curb at Superior St. and Douglas Ave. It was observed the other two males remain further south near the sidewalk area in the 1300 block of Superior St. The individual began posturing as if he wanted to fight the victim.

According to the victim hestated he advised the other two individuals to control their friend. The victim stated the first individual came toward him and was clenching an unknown item in his hand as he began to attack the victim. The victim stated he attempted to defend himself and was eventually tripped or knocked down in the 1300 block of Douglas Ave.

The complaint states while the victim lying on his back he attempted to kick at the individual; however, this had no effect as this individual continued to stab and attack him. The victim stated that he attempted to defend himself and also stand up and get away from the attack. He stated he ended up in the parking lot in the 1300 block Douglas Ave. and believed the three individuals then left the area. The victim states after several minutes those individuals fled and he was able to crawl/walk to the south porch of a residence and bang on the door until that individual, answered and contacted 9-1-1.

Investigators report that there were survelliance cameras in the area and they were able to make contact with the owner of the cameras and were able to locate surveillance footage of the incident. Investigators were able to do a photo line up from the video and the suspect was identified.

Investigators state that based on witness interviews stated that after the initial attack the suspects made contact with the victim. The complaint indicates that Vazquez was not the ones who initially assaulted and/or stabbed the victim.
