A high-speed chase Thursday got $15,000 worth of cocaine off the street, but the driver got away.
Mount Pleasant police in a written statement said an officer attempted to pull over a driver speeding on Highway 32 around Edgewater Drive. Instead of stopping though, the driver went faster, going south into Kenosha County and then west on Highway A.
During the chase, officers saw the driver toss a duffle bag out of the vehicle. When the bag was recovered, police discovered over 500 grams of cocaine with a street value of over $15,000.
Speeds got up to 100 mph and started to climb higher when MPPD terminated the pursuit.
