The Racine Police Department Patrol Unit arrested a commercial burglar early this morning.
On Monday February 4, 2013 at about 0330hrs officers responded to Joey’s Tavern at 1863 Taylor Ave in the City of Racine reference a commercial burglary in progress. Officers were advised that a suspect had just exited out the back of the establishment and fled the scene on foot. Responding officers discovered pry marks on the back door and a single set of footwear impressions in the snow leading away from the scene. Officers followed the footwear impressions winding through several city blocks. By following the footwear impressions officers located the suspect in the area of the Washington Park High School Baseball field. Kyle Kraft was taken into custody without incident and was found to be in possession of evidence of the burglary. Kyle Kraft was discovered to be out on bond for a previous arrest. He was transported to the Racine County Jail and arrested for Burglary to a Building, Criminal Damage to Property and 2 counts of Bail Jumping.
This burglary arrest is directly attributed to a coordinated response by responding officers, the willingness of citizen witnesses to call in the suspicious circumstance and the quality security camera system installed by the business owner.
