Timothy Nitz, 54 of Racine is facing his 7th Operating While Intoxicated Charge. If convicted he faces a fine up to $25,000 or 10 years in prison, or both. According to the criminal complaint, on January 13, 2013, witnesses contacted Racine Police/Racine County Dispatch to notify them that they were witnessing an erratic driver, traveling north on Douglas Ave who had just struck a stop sign at the intersection of Kingston and Douglas.
When officers arrived, the suspect stated that he couldn’t see out of his window and slid into the sign. The criminal complaint states that the suspect was observed to have slurred speech, having trouble standing still and keeping his balance. When officers asked the suspect if he had been drinking, the criminal complaint states that the suspect answered “6 beers”. When the suspect was taken into custody it is documented in the report that he had an unopened can of beer in his pocket.
According to the complaint the suspect had an active warrant out for his arrest through the Probation and Parole board. According to his driving record, the suspect had 6 prior OWI convictions. The party was transported to All Saints for a legal blood draw and was booked into the Racine County Jail on 7th OWI and a probation hold.

Here we go again! What will it take to get people like this off the roads? A couple of weeks ago a guy with 8 owi hit another vehicle but thankfully didn’t kill anyone. Then we have the young woman in Sturtevant driving around drunk with 5 kids in the van! This is just insane.

Depends how drunk someone is. A lot of people don’t deserve jail or prison. The United States has more people in prison than most other countries do.
