We Are Racine has been working on Jacato Drive with residents since last summer. This week’s fire touched all of us since we became close to so many residents and families that live there. We have been in contact with the Red Cross and also the owner of the building that burned along with the residents. We have been collecting donations through facebook since the morning after the fire.
Our goal is to help those displaced by the fire start to rebuild their lives. We are currently accepting donations of
Women’s clothing, men’s clothing, towels, household items such as dishes, silverware, glasses, person care products, cleaning supplies, toilet paper and papergoods along with pots, pans, bakeware. A building manager has been gracious enough to let us use an apartment to store all the items to help ease getting them to the victims.
Many volunteers have been over on Jacato Drive the past few days lending a hand to other buildings to help get them ready to try to relocate the victims. If you are interested in donating any gently used items or have any questions you can contact “We Are Racine” at 262-664-3131 and leave a message, we are over there at various times throughout the day and will be happy to accept items. (We Are Racine is officially registered with State of Wisconsin and is in process of becoming a 501c3 with the federal government)
