Southshore Fire responds to Jose’s Blue Sombrero Fire

Southshore Fire responded to a full response fire alarm to Jose’s Blue Sombrero on Washington Ave., after getting calls that the chip machine was smoking around 10:15 a.m. MPPD arrived and notified dispatch and fire that there was visible smoke coming form the roof and back of the building. Southshore is on scene, 14 minutes into the incident, they have lines stretched and are battling the fire, RIT teams are on scene and fire fighters are venting the roof.

10:37 a.m. – Command states that fire is under control at this time. They are asking for more guys on the roof. They are asking for a voluntary recall for command to the scene. They are checking the building. Jose’s was an old farmhouse at one time, and they want to make sure the fire has not spread into any void spaces
10:43 a.m. – Southshore Command states that they have a good handle on everything right now, all aspects are completely under control, fire is out
10:49 a.m. – Command states at this time they are clearing the building of smoke. No one was injured and WE Energies is en route

The are open for drinks but will not be serving food until Monday Jose’s employees state
