No Squads Available.. Can anyone break for a call?
Anyone that pays attention in Racine and has listened to the scanner has heard that numerous times, different times of day and night, no shift is safe. When dispatch is asking for any squad available, or if any officer can break from a call, it’s for a priority 1 call. A priority 1 call is the most serious in nature, a fight, a burglary in progress, a call where someone is in danger; it’s not a barking dog and it sure isn’t a parking complaint.

Here is the education lesson for today citizens of Racine. Kenosha has a mandated 20 officers on every shift. Racine is to have 18. Our coverage of officers is running short everyday, possibly 8 in total(officers NOT out patrolling the streets you and I live on). These are the men and woman that are protecting citizens and businesses from the goons that prey on this city. It jeopardizes the safety of the officers on duty along with the residents. Non-priority calls can hold for more than an hour. Is it the Racine Police Departments fault? NO…. Is it the Racine Police Officers? NO.. Many times we have had to call in other agencies for back up for situations.

The first line of defense and protection for people are the Racine Police Department and Racine Fire Department. No one else period. No one else is going to save you during a robbery, if you have a medical emergency or your house is on fire. It’s time that the citizens start paying close attention to what is happening our streets.

I read it on a daily basis when I go through the call lists.. NO SQUADS AVAILABLE… I hear it on the scanner..ANY SQUAD AVAILABLE TO BREAK FOR A CALL. I am going to start posting each and every time I see or hear about the Racine Police Department not having enough manpower to protect themselves or we the city.

As of Tuesday October 23, 2012. at 9:53 am. the Racine Police Department has  56749 calls for service logged in  so far this year.  We aren’t a large town, in fact the City of Racine is only about 15 miles big.  If we don’t want to see the most vital services possibly cut, we the citizens have to stand up and take action and say NO!
