Man Loses Forearm in Wood-Cutting Accident

According to the Mount Pleasant Patch, A man lost his right forearm in a wood-cutting accident at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. Sturtevant Police said the man’s arm was sucked into a wood chipper Tuesday evening, as he worked in the back yard of his home. Neighbors immediately came to his aid.

According to Sturtevant police the man’s arm was sucked into a wood splitter that he was using in the back yard of his home in the 8900 block of Corliss Avenue. He was taken by South Shore Rescue to Wheaton Franciscan All Saint hospital, where he was taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert hospital in Wauwatosa.

Neighbors responded immediately and were able to use tourniquets to help the man, said Police Chief Sean Marschke. The man was alert and talking during the rescue, Marschke said
