A 63-year-old Racine man is facing felony drunk driving charges after he allegedly hit a parked car with his Cadillac while driving drunk.
Elex Moore of the 5500 block of Marboro was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of sixth offense operating while intoxicated and one count of operating a motor vehicle after revocation of his license. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison and $12,500 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, at 3:41 p.m. Sept. 8, Racine police officers were called to an accident in the 1400 block of Douglas Avenue after it was reported a Cadillac hit a parked car. When they arrived, Moore was standing outside of the Cadillac, which was on the curb along with the other car facing southbound.
Officers reported that Moore had a hard time keeping his balance, smelled of alcohol, spoke slowly and gave several different spellings of his name. He reportedly told officers he drank one beer before driving. He failed field sobriety tests and was then taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for a blood test.
