Man Charged with 1st Degree Attempted Homicide Charges

Updated-Kurt Hanson appeared before Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch today at 1:30. His bond is currently $10,000 and he is on a PO hold from Department of Correction. He is scheduled to appear November 7, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.

 

A Racine man was arrested after police were called to a residence in the 4000 block of Victory for a family trouble. Kurt Hanson, 54, 4000 Victory Ave., was arrested and booked on charges of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide-Attempted, Strangulation, Suffocation, False Imprisonment, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting. Racine County Inmate records show that his bail is $10,450 (no bail given for the attempted homicide charge) and also on a hold from Department of Corrections for those charges. He should make an initial appearance in the next few days. Circuit Court records show he has a criminal record of violence dating back to 1992.

Records show that the suspect had just finished serving jail time on October 22, 2012 after being sentenced to 6 months in jail after a conviction of disorderly conduct, and possession of THC. He had originally been arrested and charges on February 6, 2012, after 911 calls came in stating that he tried to kidnap a neighborhood boy, threatened the neighborhood, fought with police and had to be tased to be taken into custody. The original charges from the February 2012 incident were as follows:
