Sean Humpa-RCJ

Sean D. Humpa, 21, was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Friday with two counts of retail theft, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, four counts of bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, he faces up to 64 months in prison and $80,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, at 6:30 a.m. Oct. 16, Mount Pleasant police were called to Walmart after security officers said Humpa came into the store and stole a Samsung tablet valued at $398. Security said Humpa also came into the store at 2:57 a.m., walking around and placing things by a backpack while smoking a cigarette.

He took the tablet just before police were called, then walked down a nearby hill away from the store.

At 11:09 a.m. Thursday, officers were called back to the store after staff said they caught him trying to steal $107 in goods. Humpa had an X-Acto knife in his pocket and said he stole the items because he’s homeless and hungry.

One Response to Homeless Man Accused of Stealing-because he’s hungry

  1. I’m at least going to steal some food and clothing if I’m hungry and homeless. Or maybe visit a church or homeless shelter or relative?
