The pilot of a single engine airplane escaped uninjured after taking off at 2:20 p.m. Thursday from Kenosha Regional Airport, losing power and crashing in a grassy area several hundred feet north of the Kenosha County Detention Facility across from the airport at 4777 88th Ave. (Highway H).
The plane clipped a tree with its wing, causing it to spin around and crash land near the Detention Facility access road, according to the Kenosha Sheriff’s Department. The pilot was the sole occupant. No injuries were reported on the ground, and no buildings sustained property damage due to the crash.
