Cook is charged with criminal damage to property, attempted arson and bail jumping from the first incident as well as charges of misdemeanor retail theft and bail jumping from the second incident. If convicted of all current charges, Cook faces 33-1/2 years imprisonment and up to $90,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, Racine Police were called to an apartment building in the 100 block of 7th Street on Sept. 14 for reports of a white male breaking windows. When officers arrived, they observed a large broken window so they went inside and discovered a pile of burnt papers in the front hallway. Next to the papers was a cell phone plugged into a wall outlet. Then, on Saturday, Mount Pleasant police were called to Pick-n-Save at 1202 N. Green Bay Road for a shoplifting report.
