Mount Pleasant Patch-Deputies followed leads across 2,000 miles to find the person they believe is responsible for the murder of Robert Greene in Yorkville last weekend.
Racine County Sheriff Chris Schmaling on Friday released a statement announcing the arrest of a suspect in Missouri for the Aug. 26 slaying of Robert G. Greene.
According to the release, the suspect is being held in Missouri on an unrelated Wisconsin warrant and will be extradicted to Racine in the coming days. When he arrives, the RCSD will formally arrest him for Green’s death and recommend to the Racine County District Attorney that homicide charges be filed.
Deputies reportedly followed leads across five states and 2,000 miles to locate the suspect. The RCSD is not releasing the person’s name at this time.
Greene, 54, was shot at the home of some friends in Yorkville around 2 a.m. last Sunday. He was taken by rescue to an area hospital where he later died.
Later on Sunday, deputies took a man into custody who was believed to have been involved with Greene’s death and executed a search warrant on a home in the 9300 block of Florence Drive in Sturtevant.
But on Tuesday, the RCSD released a statement saying they were looking at persons of interest but had not made any arrests.
Patch left a message for Schmaling and will update this story when more details become available.
Greene’s murder remains under investigation.

I’m distraught about this whole thing. My step-brother is the suspect and has had such a troubled past but would give you the shirt off his back. Its the hard core drugs that changed him. He isnt a murderer. He is someones brother, son, uncle, father and grandfather , who needs help. God please bring comfort to all that are involved especially any family members or loved ones of the victim who has passes away.
