On July 17th, at about 11:25 P.M. officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Dr. for a report of a man down. Officers responded and located a 23 year old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was transported to Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Emergency Room and treated for his injury. The injury is not life threatening.
Officers learned the victim was standing with several people in the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Dr. when he saw the two suspects near St. Patrick St. at Martin Luther King Dr. One suspect produced a handgun and began to shoot in the direction of the victim and the people he was standing with. The victim ran, felt pain to his leg and discovered he had been shot.
The suspects were described as two Hispanic males, about 20 years old, about 5’05 and around 155 lbs. This investigation of this incident is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
