Suspect tells trooper he had five beers before driving.

The Mount Pleasant Patch is reporting that
a 41-year-old Racine man is facing his fifth drunk driving charge after he was caught allegedly driving drunk through Mount Pleasant Sunday.

Juventino Salas was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Monday with one count of fifth offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 1:50 a.m. Sunday, a Wisconsin State Trooper spotted Salas near Highway 20 and Emmersten Road doing 47 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour speed zone. The trooper pulled Salas over, who said he had just picked up his friend from the Sportsplex in Sturtevant.

Salas said he had five beers earlier in the night. He failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of 0.122 at the time of the incident.

Salas was previously convicted of OWI in 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005. He’s currently being held in Racine County Jail on $1,000 bond while awaiting trial.
