Arrests Made In Jay Brook Homicide

Victim: Jeremiah L. Brook 22 years old from Racine
Vehicle: 1999 Chevy Blazer
Arrested: Kiori Billups 21 years old from Racine
Felony Murder and Armed Robbery

Latriell Thurman 20 years old from Racine
Felony Murder and Armed Robbery

The investigation into this homicide has resulted in the arrest of Latriell Thurman and Kiori Billiups. Thurman and Billups were arrested for Felony Murder and Armed Robbery. Billups was arrested in the 1100 block of 11th St. at about 6:00 A.M. on July 26th, 2012. Thurman was arrested in the 2200 block of Washington Ave. at about 9:30 A.M. on July 26th, 2012. The Racine County District Attorney’s Office is expected to issue formal charges in the near future. This continues to be an active homicide investigation and no further information will be released at this time.

The victim of this homicide has been identified as Jeremiah L. Brook.

On July 23rd, 2012 at about 1:20 P.M. Racine Police officers were dispatched to Washington Ave. and 11th St. for a report of a vehicle accident. Racine Fire Department Rescue also responded and personnel determined the operator was suffering from a traumatic injury to his chest. Racine Fire Department Rescue transported the operator to Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Emergency Room where he died.

Witnesses report the Chevy was northbound in the 1200 block of Washington Ave. The operator of the Chevy lost control of the vehicle and rear ended a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of Washington Ave. Officers and investigators believe the operator of the Chevy suffered the injury to his chest at another, at this point unknown, location prior to the accident.
