Mount Pleasant Police Chief Taken Into Custody During Incident at His Home

According to reports from the Mount Pleasant Patch, deputies from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department took Chief Tim Zarzecki into custody Friday night at his home.

Mount Pleasant Police confirm that Chief Tim Zarzecki was taken into custody by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department Friday night after Zarzecki’s wife called 911.

According to Mount Pleasant Police Captain Brian Smith, the Zarzecki’s have had some ongoing issues, and they’re trying to work through them. Smith confirmed that Mrs. Zarzecki did dial 911.

“This is a personal matter, but there was an incident at their residence,” he told Patch on Saturday. “When deputies arrived, they did take Chief Zarzecki into custody based on the fact that Mrs. Zarzecki was the person who dialed 911. The chief was released a short time later.”

Smith said he is sure that the situation will resolve itself.

“We’re confident that Chief Zarzecki will be clearly vindicated of any wrong-doing as this goes through the process,” Smith added.

Zarzecki is back home with his children and is spending today with family. He was already scheduled to be out of the office next week on vacation.

  1. As a LEADER and ROLE MODEL in a position of authority we expect more.

This is sad. I call on him to resign.

  2. Where are the calls for Keith Fair to resign? And where was the condemnation of Eric Marcus? If I recall, many came to his defense while blaming his wife…should we not give the Chief the same consideration Tricky?

    • This is a Mt. Pleasant matter – and I am a resident of Mt. Pleasant.

We pay OUR Police Chief a package worth over six figures – high expectations and morals go with that.

      • i.e. If you can’t run/handle your wife and home – how can you run a Police Department?

  3. Quick comment, innocent until proven guilty, until the details are released we shouldn’t even begin to guess. I grab a family member by the arm, these day’s its considered domestic abuse. Not sticking up for anyone but don’t be so quick to condemn until all the details are made public.

  4. I didn’t call for him to be fired. The call was for him to resign.

IF, and then only IF he is convicted – THEN HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!

Being honorable and doing the right thing in America is a concept that no longer exists.

  5. Interesting to note that there are no records on CCAP showing a Timothy Zarzecki being arrested…. HMMMMM……. NOW – a Timothy J. Zarzecki shows up in a civil lawsuit, as Defendant, when the Mt. Pleasant police Department was sued….

Yeah – it’s all “FAIR” and “ABOVE BOARD” here – right?

    • Until FORMALLY charged there will be no record on CCAP. Why would someone resign because the media has a slant on the reporting of only some of the details.

      • Tim Zarzecki’s WIFE CALLED THE POLICE FOR HELP.

SO – should we just ignore her cry for help? He was already arrested – so PROBABLE CAUSE EXISTS! SO – it needs to be RECORDED – like for ANY ORDINARY CITIZEN – IF no charges come of it – he has to live with the arrest record – JUST LIKE ANY ORDINARY CITIZEN, OR, pay for a Lawyer and get the arrest record EXPUNGED – just like ANY ORDINARY CITIZEN.

HE IS BEING AFFORDED SPECIAL PRIVILEGE! THAT IS WRONG!

  6. AND – let’s say the fault was Mrs. Zarzecki’s – who was claimed in the JT articel to be “OFF HER MEDS”. Wouldn’t she present a DANGER? Should she have not been taken to the Psych Ward for Observation and Evaulation – FOR HER OWN PROTECTION?

    Something STINKS in Mt. Pleasant.

  7. It may just be a muni ticket, if someone gets a DC ticket from RPD it’s muni most of the time and never appears on CCAP
