SUSPECTS ARE 13 AND 15 YEARS OLD.
By Heather Asiyanbi Mount Pleasant Police, Caledonia Police and the Racine Police K-9 unit participated in a foot chase that nabbed two of three burglary suspects.
Mount Pleasant Police say good looking out by neighbors on Green Haze Drive helped them catch two of three juvenile burglary suspects.
Officers responded in the early evening hours Monday to calls of suspicious persons. When police arrived, the three suspects fled on foot, going east. One suspect was apprehended near the intersection of Highway 38 and MM at the Root River.
Squads from Caledonia and the Racine Police K-9 unit also responded, chasing a second suspect north along the river. He was eventually located in a garage in the neighborhood near the intersection of Highway 31 and Johnson.
Mount Pleasant Police Sargeant David Stroupe said while officers were engaged in the chase, dispatch received a call from a homeowner in the 2800 block of Dungal Road reporting a break-in and burglary, possibly to their garage.
“We did get a call from a resident of Mount Pleasant saying they experienced a break-in,” he confirmed.
The suspects, all of whom are described as black, male juveniles, are currently detained each face a felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer. The third suspect remains at large.
