Dramatic video as officer dives to avoid oncoming car; police bicycle crushed. Help MPD find the driver! Three bicycle patrol officers, in full uniform and insignia, approached a vehicle that was suspiciously parked in front of a business near 49th & Capitol on April 22, 2012 at 1:59 p.m. As two officers approached the vehicle from the rear, one officer approached from the front. The vehicle passenger suddenly ran to and entered the vehicle while the driver maneuvered the car directly toward the lone officer. This officer was able to dismount his bicycle an instant before the driver crashed into his bicycle. The driver then continued from the scene at a high rate of speed, jeopardizing other motorists. Suspect descriptions: #1 (driver) B/M, 18 to 20, wearing a white T-shirt, cell phone on lanyard, #2 (passenger) B/M, 18 to 20 B/M 6′, slim build, dark skin, short hair, clean shaven, baggy white T-shirt, baggy blue denim pants, white athletic shoes, cell phone on lanyard. The still photo at the end of the video stream is the passenger, a subject of interest with witness information we wish to speak with.
