$9 million dollars?? That’s what the GAB is saying all this recall craziness is going to cost us.. Why? Because people are in my opinion having temper tantrums and stomping. I have stayed out of all the recall crap EXCEPT when laws are broken. I am officially taking a stand on this one.. $9 million dollars coming out of EVERYONES pocket. You, me, your neighbor, the pizza delivery driver. If you are so much for this recall election. Please feel free to foot the bill too. This should be considered a crime against all residents in Wisconsin… We are royally screwed without a kiss on this one. $18 a piece to the 500,000 that signed the petitions to recall.. Time for them to get a $20 out or write a check

I agree! He has done what he said he would do, and now people don’t like it! Oh well! Get a life! We have to pay for our own insurance and retirement, so suck it up and pay it too!

Michelle – The recall isn’t about the paying for their own insurance/benefits. The public unions agreed to contribute the amount that the governor wanted them too. They are trying to recall Gov. Walker because he is ending their collective bargaining. They will no longer be able to bargain for slightly higher wages to offset some of the cost of their contributions. And while some people believe public union employees make a lot of money, their are also many who don’t make a lot of money. Consider a prison guards starting pay is only $14. On another note, yes, Walker has done what he said he would do, like balance the budget and eliminate our HUGE debt. Upon doing research, our debt was never as big as Walker originally said. The actual debt. totaled about 1% of the states annual income. NOW, I’m not for or against Walker. I love the fact that we have concealed carry, and a castle doctrine law because of him. I also find the ending collective bargaining after they agreed to his requests a little sketchy. But for all who read this, don’t trust everything you hear from ANY politician, or any tv channel. Do the research yourself and come to your own conclusions. In my opinion, has Walker done anything to warrant a recall (unethical or immoral or illegal things)? No.

I know all that! But all I hear is how it’s unfair that they have to pay for their insurance and retirement.. How big their deductible is, how much they pay now. We pay alot too, but I am just happy to have a job and insurance. And they don’t care how much a recall is going to cost the state. People forget they voted him in office!

Yes Michelle, that is mostly what is heard out there. And you are correct, he was voted into office. Despite some of his actions being unpopular with X amount of people, he hasn’t done anything unethical, immoral, nor illegal. Recalling someone because you don’t like a choice they made is pointless to me. The sad thing about all of this is that the state of Wisconsin is divided right now. People should learn to put their political feelings on the back burner and treat everyone civil and respectful until they give you a reason not to. If anyone thinks that big government is looking out for anyone but themselves, your sorely mistaken.

So, when exact;y, did he say he was going to take measures to strip unions of collective bargaining rights?
Something that doesn’t change the states deficit at all.
The teacher’s union agreed to EVERYTHING he was going for. Paying more into their benefits, AND a pay cuts in the hopes that he wouldn’t strip them of that right.

I give Walker credit for everything he has done so far. There are so many union members avoiding the increased payment by retiring and locking into the health insurance rate at time of retirement. I think this will be great for unemployment provided they actually retire and aren’t allowed to make a deal before they retire to come back, which is not suppose to be allowed per the union. Many of those retiring and not getting rehired should have retired years ago, but hey why not milk the system as long as you can. Hopefully we’ll get some new blood in these jobs, newer technology will be implemented and save the state more in the long run.

Those of us in the private sector don’t have collective bargaining, we’re lucky if we have a job and health insurance. Many of us are making less money then before the economy went to he!!. I’d love to have the health insurance I used to have paying the much larger premiums then the unions. Damn I’d like to have health insurance.

Now that I have had a good nights sleep and have calmed down a lot. I still am against the recall..It’s the amount of money everyone is using to try to destroy the other side. This could just keep going and going and going if he 1.stays in office 2. someone else is elected that someone doesn’t like. Do I agree with everything government does…locally, at a state level or even national level.. HELL NO.. For the most part I do print news on the actually website. Here I am more of a person. But this state and the residents that live here seem that they are not going to stop until there is nothing left. We as adults try to be good role models for our children in hopes that we raise them to be decent human beings… But with the way things have been they see nothing but bullying and thugs from everyone, in fact I’m sure there are times that the “goons” laugh at everything everyone is doing.. I have always worked with people no matter what they believe in or who they stand behind, but I am just a person who has now said enough is enough, we have enough problems to deal with and this just keeps snowballing. If you look at other media organizations, they write articles daily, sometimes hourly about this situation and they have become so biased they make me look like a Saint. Have a good day, enjoy the sunshine, at least it’s not snow

Yes – those union “concessions”. Pretty easy to make those knowing that millions of dollars would be spent in the next election (including the taxpayers’ contributions laundered through union dues) to get Walker out of there. Then those “concessions” would go away and we’d be paying back salaries and maybe even interest – we’d definitely be paying lots of lawyers. I have to laugh at the whole talking point of collective bargaining too. Collective bargaining means that either party can leave the negotiating table at any time. This is not true in the case of public unions. In fact, you have politicos who are elected based in part on union members votes negotiating with people whose dues go in part to their campaigns. This is the definition of a conflict of interest.
I’m sorry about the prison guards who start at $14. Try getting a PhD (a real one, not the mail order kind popular around here – the kind that allow you to stay in your public servant job while you get it and have the taxpayers pay for your tuition and travel) and do your two postdoctoral fellowships and, after at least 12 years of school and training, be lucky to get a job at all and make $50,000 if you do. Starting work in your early 30s, well say goodbye to that abused civil servant dream of retiring in your 50s and retiring to a State in which you won’t be paying Wisconsin taxes.
Think these people give a damn about taxpayers getting socked with a $9+ million bill? They are abused and this is their “right”.

This article is opinion, not news as it is labelled on the site. In my opinion, if you don’t care about kids and education, you LOVE Walker. Class sizes are huge! Walker rejecting funding for education that helped many impoverished children. I would suggest becoming informed before you judge the recall. This man is out to destroy public education. I don’t know about you, but my taxes went up. Why? Because of the voucher system that Walker established. There are so many inconsistencies in what this man says, how can you believe anything he says? He is destroying the state, attempting to eliminate the middle class, and out to hurt all of us. Get informed before you back him. He is lining the pockets of the rich, and only cares about himself and other selfish people like him.

My taxes dropped so did the value of my home which it has been for the past few years…Holly you better get a reality check.. You say I don’t care about kids or education….Ask Julian Thomas School or Safe Haven if I don’t. I busted my ass on fundrasiers to help the adults and children. Ask the Racine Police Department if I didn’t bust my ass to help them raise money for a new K9 union. Take a look toost, for the past 7 years I worked to get laws changed to PROTECT ALL WISCONSIN RESIDENTS AND HOLD GOONS ACCOUTABLE.. I will judge the recall it’s going to cost ME money along with MY children and My family and MY Friends…He’s not lining my pockets.. or anyone I know but so many people are DONE With the bullying, the law breaking and the games…so you need to take a step back and take a look at what I have done to help those in the community.. PERIOD! btw I have family that were union members for years working in the public sector I get copies of all the emails that they get so I can look and see whats going on.. It’s disgusting all the way around (they bold faced lied to the members in the one I have on file)

I keep hearing people say they are lucky to even have a job. How are you lucky? Do you not work hard? Do you not have experience and qualifications specific to whatever job you do? Are you talentless? Then yes, you are lucky. Most people who have their job are good at what they do. They show up on time, and take a little pride in their work. Your not lucky to have a job, you earn your job every day. Companies would like you to think you are easily replaceable, so that they can treat you however they want, and overload you with work that is out of your pay grade. In most places, the amount of money it costs to advertise job opportunities, schedule testings, schedule interviewing, and then training, is a pretty expensive process. No company wants to constantly rehire new people all the time. If you are constantly thinking ‘I’m lucky’ then they have you right where they want you. No this doesn’t apply to all job and people, but it does for a lot of them.

HollymBerry – Your last comments sum up almost all politicians. They all care about protecting themselves. Walker doesn’t care about public education? Please provide the evidence to this. If your evidence is ‘he cut funding to school districts’ it is pretty weak. Class sizes are rising, they have been rising long before Walker took office. Vouchers whether good or bad, provide people an opportunity to choose where their kids get their education. Some schools are better than others. There are great teachers out there, and there are also many bad teachers out there. Some teachers are creative, make efforts in their lesson planning, and others simply read the book, and go by the books lesson plan. Lack of education comes from some of these teachers, and mostly from parents who do not care. Yes, you might care, but not all parents do. It’s pretty sad. As I’ve said before, I’m not for or against Walker. There are things he’s done I’ve agreed with, and disagreed with. Let’s not just start twisting things and blame people for things that we can’t prove or are just rumors we heard from others.
